Within All Saints Church there are 3 memorials to members of the parish killed during the 2 world wars. On the north wall of the chancel is a memorial from the First World War commemorating Lieutenant Christopher Chowler Gilbert. The other memorials are on the south wall of the chancel with the First World War memorial commemorating Edward Jones, William Mills, Walter Parish and Bert Powers and the Second World War memorial commemorating Major Charles John Frederick Platt.
Lieutenant Christopher Chowler Gilbert, 8th Battalion, Duke of Wellingtons (West Riding Regiment), was the youngest son of Edward and Emily Gilbert of Barnby House. He had been wounded in November 1915 while serving at Gallipoli in Turkey. Lieutenant Gilbert was killed leading his men into battle, while in command of his company, during the Battle of the Somme in France on 29th September 1916 . He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, pier and face 6 A and 6 B.

Barnby House
Of those on the other First World War memorial, Private Bert Powers was born at Wilburton, Cambridgeshire to Mr T and Mrs R Powers. At the time of his death on Friday 21st December 1917, at the age of 26, Private Bert Powers was a member of the Labour Corps. He had originally joined the Lincolnshire Regiment from his home, Flawford Cottages, Barnby-in-the-Willows. Private Powers is buried in the London Road, Newark Cemetery, grave reference H. C. "C" 195. Private William Mills was born in Barnby-in-the-Willows in 1888, the eldest son of Thomas and Alice Mills (nee Turner). He served in the 4th Bn, Northumberland Fusiliers and was killed by a sniper on Friday 15 September 1916 in the Battle of the Somme. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, pier and face 10 B 11 B and 12 B. Private Walter Parish served with the 2nd Bn, South Staffordshire Regiment and dies on 28 April 1917. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France, on bay 6.
The Second World War memorial commemorates Major Charles John Frederick Platt of the 3rd Kings Own Hussars, R.A.C. Major Platt died on Thursday 4th February 1943, aged 35. He lived at Barnby Manor, his grandfather having bought the property in 1879. His father had died in September 1912; however, Charles died before his mother, Norah. He was married to Daphne Victoria Platt, of Muirhouselaw, Roxburghshire, from where his mother also originated. Major Platt is buried in Alpeppo War Cemetery, Syria, grave reference 2. C. 1.
