The 1891 Census

The 1891 Census was carried out for the civil parish of Barnby-in-the-Willows including Flawford. The enumerator was Reuben Thomas Grocock and he recorded 53 inhabited houses in Barnby with 2 uninhabited properties. At Flawford he recorded 2 inhabited houses. There were a total of 123 males and 129 females for a total of 252 people. I have transcribed the census; however, pages 8 and 9 were missing from the records. These 2 pages covered the final 2 properties in Barnby and the 2 houses at Flawford. The columns within the census are: road, street, name of house; name and surname; relation to head; condition as to marriage; age last birthday; profession; employer; employed; neither; where born.

There are possibly some spelling mistakes due to the difficulty in reading the Victorian handwriting. In addition, some of the spelling mistakes were intentionally copied from the original manuscript. Where I could not decipher a word or letter, or doubt exists as to the word, I have used a question mark.
